Multiple HDDs previously opened by data recovery companies

Data declared unrecoverable or misled on price?

A significant proportion of the devices CDR receives have been at another data recovery company first. In some cases, the disks have been examined by multiple data recovery companies before finally reaching CDR. The typical reason why the device has been sent to CDR is that either the data had been (incorrectly) declared as unrecoverable, or that the quotation provided by the first data recovery company was much higher than their initial price estimate, or that a non-refundable fee of several hundred pounds for ‘donor parts’ has been requested.

Cheadle Data Recovery Ltd always provides a fixed price list in advance of receiving any device, with the cost of donor parts included within the standard fees.

Below are examples of Hard Disk Drives which CDR has had to recover data from after another company has inspected/worked on the disk.
