Return Hard Disk Drive Price List

Update 6th May 2026: Over the last 10 months the price of RAM, Solid State Disks (SSDs) and Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) has increased significantly. This is due to the demands placed on the Artificial Intelligence data centre boom. The price of SSDs have increased between 100% to 150% since the summer of 2025, and the price of HDDs have increased by approximately 50% to 100% depending on the capacity. CDR buys in bulk directly from Western Digital. We are due to place our next order, but the cost of the new batch of disks is likely to be significantly higher, and as a result, the cost of return media disks is set to increase significantly to the costs set out below. Customers who have had their job booked in by the 10th of May will be charged the rate as set on the 2nd of October, 2024. Thereafter, new prices will be set for return media. These shall be set out here once negotiations with Western Digital are complete.

Update 7th of May 2026: New stock has been ordered. For new customers, the following return media prices will apply:

  • 2TB Encrypted USB3 Portable HDD: £75 excluding VAT
  • 5TB Encrypted USB3 Portable HDD: £130 excluding VAT

Cheadle DATA Recovery Ltd will always provide a full price list of its data recovery services in advance of receiving a failed device. Moreover, CDR also lists the cost of any new return media device advance so customers can decide whether they wish CDR to provide a new device to return any recovered data on. CDR provides return media at as close to cost price as possible. When calculating the overall cost of a data recovery service it is worth considering the cost of the return media device.

All prices exclude VAT. All devices are new with original packaging, and have a manufacturer warranty. Any return media HDD returned by courier shall be encrypted for your security.

If a return postal or courier service is required, this is charged at £7.99 ex VAT for parcels less than 5KG, and at £12.00 ex VAT for parcels between 5KG and 10KG in weight.
