I contacted CDR because my 20-year-old FREECOM Network Storage Centre (NAS) had stopped letting me access the data. Because of the age of the equipment the manufacturer had long gone out of business, and the only other company able to help was located in Germany. CDR to the rescue! John contacted me promptly, quoted a fixed price (which he stuck to), fixed a problem with the hard drive and was able to recover 100% of the data. A superb service - cannot recommend highly enough.
Response from the owner:Hello Anthony, thank you for the review. The age of an HDD is becoming an issue for data recovery - having to access to a matching donor HDD to attempt the work is critical. A lot of older HDDs have been disposed of, and are becoming hard to find. Fortunately, over the 20 years CDR has been trading it has been possible to accumulate over 7000 HDDs which are retained in stock. This means having immediate access to the correct matching HDD to successfully complete the work. Best regards, John C. Reid.

We had a positive experience with CDR. We had lost some images on an SD card which had sentimental value, and happily they were able to be retrieved. John was very clear and helpful throughout each step of the process and in answering any queries we had. I hope not to lose any data again in the future, but would use CDR again if I did!
Response from the owner:Hello Laura, thank you for the review. I am glad it was possible to make a recovery of the data from your memory card. Best regards, John C. Reid.

Excellent service and can't recommend enough; stop looking and use CDR! John was both professional and clearly well experienced he recovered a lifetime's worth of photos for me from my failed SSD - which it turned out had multiple points of failure. Thank you
Response from the owner:Hello Phil, thank you for the review. Your Corsair MP600 500 GB NVME SSD (CSSD-F500GBMP600) was first assessed as having a fault with the firmware. The device would not provide a drive identification in normal mode, and it was necessary to apply jumpers on the SSD to get the SSD into a factory/safe mode. Once this was achieved the SSD appeared to have the standard functionality associated with an SSD with failed firmware. Although your SSD used a controller chip (Phison PS5016) which was fully supported by the data recovery equipment for firmware repair/emulation, each attempt to do so failed. It was then established that the NAND itself had failed. Commands sent to identify the NAND parameters failed whilst the SSD was in safe mode. On this basis it was then necessary to assume that the point of failure was a bad connection between the NAND chips (where the data is stored) and the PCB of the SSD. Work then continued to dismount, clean, and re-ball all four NAND BGA chips and resolder these to the SSD. Once done the SSD could be detected with the correct ID. It was then possible to recover all of your data from the device. It is worth noting that the fixed fee quotation/price list which is provided in advance of receiving an SSD is always honoured even if it becomes a more involved case with multiple or challenging failures. Getting a 'tricky one' does not lead to ever-increasing fees as per the practice of certain DR companies. Best regards, John C. Reid.

John was fantastic, providing an efficient and professional service. All data was recovered. Communication was great throughout. Thank you!
Response from the owner:Hello James, thank you for the review. Your Micron 1100 SSD was suffering with degraded NAND chips and producing read errors. With the appropriate hardware disk imaging equipment, and control of the temperature of the NAND chips it was possible to make a successful recovery of the data you required. I am glad you were pleased with the service. Best regards, John C. Reid.
